NPORS SAFETY AT STREET AND ROAD WORKS N714

For NPORS CSCS Route the candidate must have passed a valid CITB Health, Safety and Environment Test for operatives (OPS) within the last two years

NPORS Safety at Street and Road Works N714 Course Objectives

It is envisaged that by the end of this course of training the learner will be able to answer questions on and perform the following:

Have a basic understanding of the industry, the dangers of working in the industry and their responsibilities as a road works operative

Have a working knowledge of the Safety at Street Works and Roadworks A Code Of Practice and be able to reference it

Permits, traffic risk assessment and on-site paperwork

Be able to locate and identify the correct PPE and equipment required for the road type and explain its use

Be able to Identify various road types and reference them in the ACOP

Conduct all pre-operational checks in accordance with manufacturers and department of transport and legislative requirements on equipment required as identified in the ACOP

Configure the vehicle ready for setting up works on the carriageway, walkway, verge etc

Set out the required equipment as per ACOP and traffic management risk assessment on to the work site in the correct order and position

Pre-use checks on traffic signals prior to leaving yard including stop go boards

Check and enter the correct settings on traffic signals for the road type

Set up traffic signals using the correct method

Check for correct set up including correct works space for any vehicles after setting up works before commencing operations

Position any vehicle correctly and safely in works

Removing traffic signals and all other equipment after works using correct and safe methods

Post use checks of equipment and identifying faults

Refuelling or recharging traffic signals

Reporting any faults found and removing from service any defective equipment
